The 10th annual Youth for Human Rights International World Educational Tour returns to Russia.

St. Petersburg, Russia, hosted the fourth stage of the 10th annual Youth for Human Rights International World Educational Tour February 20-25, 2013. The Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) team, led by the group’s president Dr. Mary Shuttleworth, held meetings with leaders in education and human rights and assisted with the filming of a new human rights video, We Have Rights No Matter Who We Are.

One of the largest and most active YHRI chapters in the world, the St. Petersburg group is led by Ruslan Khusainov, recipient of the YHRI 2012 Human Rights Hero Award. He and his volunteers have introduced millions to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the world’s premier human rights document, through street events, lectures, educational programs, media appearances and an annual Human Rights Marathon.

The World Tour met with human rights activists and staff of various city agencies responsible for education and youth issues. They also attended a conference on civil law education and laid plans for a regional summit where youth delegates from throughout the Commonwealth of Independent States will meet to coordinate activities and expand human rights education.

Scientologists on five continents engage in collaborative efforts with government agencies and nongovernmental organizations to bring about broad-scale awareness and implementation of the 1948 United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
