Scientology: How We Help—The Jive Aces, a Prescription to Feeling Good Without Drugs

The Jive Aces, UK’s number one Jive and Swing Band, are leading proponents of The Truth About Drugs—the drug education program supported by the Church of Scientology.

The Jive Aces were recently featured in the London Evening Standard as the cure for the blues.

“A video of a London swing band performing ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ is so catchy and cheerful that it has been prescribed by a doctor as a cure for depression,” writes Jonathan Prynn, the paper’s consumer business editor. “Sally Schneider, who lives in Seattle, was told to watch the Jive Aces playing the Morecambe and Wise theme song on YouTube as an ‘instant mood lifter’ by her doctor, Wallace R. Hodges.”

The band’s irrepressible good humor and energy has been raising the spirits of fans for more than two decades. And their performance of “I Wanna Be Like You” from the film Jungle Book last year put a smile on the face of “Britain’s Got Talent” judge Simon Cowell, who called their performance “…absolutely brilliant,” saying, “That has really put me in a good mood.”

Juggling a packed schedule of as many as 300 performances each year, the band always finds the time to promote the Truth About Drug, for which they have given more than 1,000 concerts.

Last summer, atop The Truth About Drugs double-decker bus, the band reached hundreds of thousands in London for the 2012 Olympics with their message that you don’t need drugs to feel good.

The band’s YouTube video, “Bring Me Sunshine,” has now been seen more than 2.1 million times.

The Church of Scientology has published Scientology: How We Help—The Truth About Drugs, Creating a Drug-Free World, a brochure to meet requests for more information about the drug education and prevention initiative it supports. Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote, “The planet has hit a barrier which prevents any widespread social progress—drugs and other biochemical substances. These can put people into a condition which not only prohibits and destroys physical health but which can prevent any stable advancement in mental or spiritual well-being.”

The Church of Scientology supports the Truth About Drugs, one of the world’s largest nongovernmental drug education and prevention campaigns. It has been conclusively proven that when young people are provided with the truth about drugs—factual information on what drugs are and what they do—usage rates drop commensurately.
