Scientologists Add a Touch of Happiness to Hamburg Marathon
Volunteers from the Church of Scientology of Hamburg distributed thousands of copies of The Way to Happiness at the 2013 Hamburg Marathon.
More than 10,000 finished the Hamburg Marathon April 21. Following a minute of silence in honor of the Boston Marathon, which took place exactly one week earlier, runners exploded past the starting line and kept up the pace for the 42.2 km (26.2 mile) route, bringing home a course record of 2:05:30 hours by Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge.
Volunteers from the Church of Scientology of Hamburg marked the occasion by creating a customized edition of The Way to Happiness bearing the coat of arms of the City of Hamburg. On race day, they distributed more that 3,000 copies of the booklet to runners and the spectators lining the route that wound through the city passing through the port of Hamburg, along Lake Alster, and through upscale residential areas and the bustling business district.
