Human rights conference organized by Ogaden Youth and Student Union and Youth for Human Rights November 27 at the Chapel of the Church of Scientology of Pretoria to raise awareness of humanitarian issues affecting the Ogaden people of Ethiopia.

The Church of Scientology of Pretoria hosted a human rights conference November 28 to look into claims of human rights violations and their remedy. Participants included refugees who fled their homeland and have settled in South Africa.

The conference concentrated on the need to implement international human rights standards and the importance of education in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to change the underlying attitudes that give rise to human rights abuse.

Maurithus Meiring, Director of Special Affairs of the Church of Scientology Pretoria, introduced conference participants to the human rights education initiative the Church of Scientology supports and presented them with copies of Scientology: How We Help—United for Human Rights, Making Human Rights a Global Reality, a brochure published to meet requests for more information about these programs.
