This summer, volunteers from the Church of Scientology of Hamburg have accelerated their efforts to reach teens with the truth about drugs, to reverse alarming drug abuse trends.

Cannabis use among young people has spiked, with 29.3 percent of German teens aged 14 to 17 having used marijuana at least once and 17 percent admitting to regular use. With their slogan “Say ‘No’ to Drugs, Say ‘Yes to Life,’ volunteers from the Church of Scientology of Hamburg are reaching out to youth this summer with factual information about drugs, to help reverse this alarming trend.

Over the past six months, Hamburg “Say ‘No’ to Drugs, Say ‘Yes’ to Life,” volunteers have distributed 40,000 copies of The Truth About Drugs information booklets. They plan to augment this with distribution of tens of thousands of The Truth About Marijuana booklets by the end of the year.

Their activities are aimed at reaching the most youth possible, including:

• Conducting drug education seminars for groups of young people;
• Setting up drug information booths in busy thoroughfares;
• Placing displays of drug education and prevention booklets in shops, where customers can take copies and learn the dangers of the most commonly used drugs.

Scientologists on five continents work in their communities throughout the year to empower others with the truth about drugs. The Church and its members are dedicated to eradicating drug abuse through education.

The Church of Scientology supports The Truth About Drugs initiative, one of the world’s largest nongovernmental drug education and prevention campaigns.

It has been conclusively proven that when young people are provided with the truth about drugs—factual information on what drugs are and what they do—usage rates drop commensurately.
