Lakeway Ushers in a New Era in Texas with the Opening of Its Ideal Scientology Mission

Nestled along the shores of Lake Travis, a new Ideal Scientology Mission opens its doors to uplift the community, empower Texans, and extend practical help and spiritual guidance to all who seek it.

Set against the sparkling waters of Lake Travis in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, Lakeway welcomed an Ideal Church of Scientology Mission on November 23, with parishioners, civic leaders and humanitarian partners from across Central Texas gathering to celebrate the opening of a vibrant new center for spiritual growth, life improvement and community service.

Scientology Missions form the vanguard of the Scientology religion, providing the full array of basic and introductory Scientology services and Scientology auditing (spiritual counseling). The Ideal Church of Scientology Mission of Lakeway is designed to serve as the physical embodiment of Scientology Technology in helping all to attain spiritual freedom.

Mission Director Genevieve King welcomed those joining for the occasion. “This is truly a landmark day for Lakeway and the Greater Austin area,” she said. “Scientology teaches the core fundamentals of life and how to improve your overall success and happiness. When a person is more able, more confident and more in communication with their environment, they can create a brighter future for themselves and for their community.… Today we are establishing this Mission as a place from which we can help the entire community.”

Reflecting that spirit of service, dignitaries joined the celebration, offering heartfelt recognition and support, while highlighting how the Church’s partnerships continue to bring practical help and hope to communities across Central Texas.

Mr. Sandro Vergeon, President of Repenser Haiti and longtime advocate for human dignity, shared how his experiences with human rights violations inspired him to educate and empower communities in both Haiti and Texas through the Church-supported program United for Human Rights. “I was pleased to find an entire organization that shares my vision for human rights education,” he said. “I look forward to seeing this Scientology Mission fully established, because it will make it possible for more people to learn about their human rights.”

Ms. Jerri Lynn Ward, Healthcare Attorney and longtime advocate for parental rights, shared how her work alongside the Church has helped protect families and uphold constitutional safeguards across Texas. “I am grateful to the Church of Scientology and the Citizens Commission on Human Rights for the work they do, for the victories they achieve, and for showing that one voice—one committed effort—can help protect countless lives,” she said. “With the opening of this new Church of Scientology Mission here in Lakeway, this vital work will not only continue but expand—helping to ensure that every family in this community can thrive safely.”

Ms. Christina Muhammad, Community Outreach Leader and mentor to young women across Central Texas, spoke of the transformative power of Dianetics in her own life and the lives of those she guides. “Dianetics allows us to take inventory of our minds, organize our thoughts, and to see beyond past pain so we can fully embrace what lies ahead. It’s about being present, enjoying the moment and preparing for the life we want to create,” she said. “The Church of Scientology and its members are transforming lives by helping people understand the science of the mind.… This is a gift—a diamond wrapped beautifully—and it shines brightly in our community.”

Parishioners, civic leaders and humanitarian partners gather from across Central Texas to mark the occasion.

Visitors to the Lakeway Mission are welcome to tour the Public Information Display, featuring multimedia presentations of the basic beliefs and practices of Dianetics and Scientology as well as the life and legacy of Founder L. Ron Hubbard.

As an Ideal Church of Scientology Mission, Lakeway is equipped with every facility needed to provide the full array of introductory Scientology services. These include the popular Life Improvement Courses through which anyone may find workable solutions to common challenges of everyday life—such as how to improve a marriage, successfully raise children, increase personal motivation, and set and achieve goals.

The new Mission also offers seminars on a wide range of topics, including personal efficiency. The Hubbard Dianetics Seminar is based on Mr. Hubbard’s watershed work Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, the bestselling book that reveals the source of one’s nightmares, unreasonable fears and irrational behavior—the reactive mind—and how to conquer it.

Additionally, the Mission provides spiritual counseling, known as auditing, and the Purification Program, developed by Mr. Hubbard to free individuals from the mental and spiritual damage caused by drugs and toxins.

Further Ideal Scientology Missions are planned across the globe in the coming months.

The audience erupts in applause as confetti rains down and the Mission officially opens its doors.

The Scientology religion was founded by author and philosopher L. Ron Hubbard. The first Church of Scientology was formed in Los Angeles in 1954 and the religion has expanded to more than 11,000 Churches, Missions and affiliated groups, with millions of members in 167 countries.
